Hurricane Preparedness
for Facility Managers and Operators

This three-day Basic School is designed to provide facility managers with essential knowledge and skills to prepare their facilities for hurricanes and other natural disasters. Participants will learn about the importance of emergency power supply systems, generators, backup power systems, and other critical infrastructure that can keep their facility operational during power outages. The course will highlight the importance of maintaining these systems and performing regular maintenance checks to ensure they are in good working order, especially before hurricane season.

With a focus on hurricane preparedness, the course will provide an overview of all basic operational principles, maintenance management practices, systematic trend analysis and some basic triage practices that can keep your system running while help is on the way.

Participants will learn how to identify potential failure points with their emergency power systems and develop strategies to mitigate risks. They will also learn about the latest technologies and tools available to improve the performance and reliability of their emergency power systems.

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Operate an emergency power supply system
  2. Identify basic generator and power distribution components
  3. Identify proper PPE, understand safety principles associated with an EPPS, and perform a Job Safety Analysis (JSA)
