Topic: Emergency and Standby Power Systems

A general overview of emergency power systems, the components used, basic maintenance requirements, and code compliance as it relates to National Fire Protection Association 110 guidelines. The format will be aimed at the practical application of knowledge for specifying managers, service, and maintenance personnel using interactive and hands on instruction techniques with the goal of increased emergency power reliability.

Richard Knittel has been actively involved in elevating the quality of generator service in the metro Atlanta area for 29 years. Starting as a factory mechanic for the oldest diesel manufacturer in the world, he was soon recruited by a succession of companies to build and grow their service departments. Nineteen years ago, he was asked again to help build and grow the service department of Prime Power. Along with many contributors, Richard and his business partner, John Banko, have succeeded in building the largest, most technically diverse independent generator service department in the Southeast.
