A Full Staff of Responsible Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS) Engineers and Employees: Prime Power’s Best Asset

It started with one man's fascination with machinery. Roger Bisher was "everybody's repairman." He was the man to whom everybody went to when they wanted their appliances, and even plumbing, fixed. As his tinkering with metals grew more sophisticated, he embarked on a new passion: creating automatic standby emergency generator switchgears. In 1983, he began supplying these creations to industrial, commercial, and utility markets. This is where Prime Power started.

From one man's vision, the company was expanded in 1987 by Addie Mathes who helped Bisher put together an engineering staff.  Six years later, Mathes further expanded operations by creating the maintenance division of their Emergency Power Supply Systems (EPSS) business. Then, power generation (with the help of the region's leading power generation experts"”John Banko and Richard Knittel) and manufacturing were added to the service and product slate, firmly establishing Prime Power as an emergency power industry leader. This ability to provide comprehensive emergency power solutions is what sets us apart from the rest.

Twenty-five years into the business, we have built the capacity to thoroughly monitor utility mains, switches, generators and circuits.  We have a full staff of electrical, mechanical and professional engineers"”the only emergency power supply company in the southeast United States to have one. Our topnotch engineers, with the help of our field technicians, make up for project teams that are well-equipped to troubleshoot and diagnose the entire emergency power system, from equipment to maintenance. And most importantly, these teams are available anytime"”with fully-equipped service vehicles"”to help customers with emergency power engineering needs.

Power engineering consists of generation, transmission and distribution of electric power. We augment this equation with an equally important component: EPSS or the generation, transmission and distribution of standby power when utility systems cannot deliver. This backup power source is usually required in sites wherein operations cannot be interrupted, such as in hospitals, telecommunications and data center, high-rise commercial and residential buildings, and other highly-sensitive transacting hubs.

With work ethics that uphold professionalism, integrity, expertise, and teamwork, our project teams and engineers are not only well-versed in emergency power solutions but also in community service.  Our employees are actively participating in activities of over 25 civic groups including the Boy Scouts of America and the Marine Corps League. In the same vein, Prime Power annually gives financial donations to charitable and arts organizations, and educational institutions.

All of these endeavors point to one virtue that we have always cultivated: empathy. We have a full staff of engineers and employees that are considered the best in their fields. They make it their duty to secure electricity, with the belief that this uninterrupted power can ultimately save lives. This same group of people believe that helping is not just a 9 to 5 job, hence the active community involvement. Along with our ability to provide comprehensive EPSS solutions, we take pride in our capability to empathize with those that we help. The capability to understand another's crisis is what always puts us on guard. It also always pushes us forward.
